ASRM Annual Meeting November, 2008
This year, ASRM
(American Society for Reproductive Medicine), held
their annual convention from November 8th through November 12, 2008,
in San Francisco, California. ASRM founded in 1944, is a professional
organization devoted to advancing knowledge and expertise in the
fields of reproductive medicine and biology. The organization consists
of more than 8,000 physicians, researchers, nurses, technicians
and other professionals dedicated to advancing knowledge and expertise
in reproductive biology.
The Cha Fertility Center proudly presented their abstract regarding
the high pregnancy rates we achieved in fertile women cryopreserving
their oocytes (eggs) using the freezing method “vitrification”.
The Cha Fertility Center’s laboratory is well known for cryopreservation
of oocytes (eggs) and embryos.
Our first babies born from cryopreserved eggs were triplets born
in 2003. So far, a total of 27 babies were born using the vitrification
method of cryopreserved eggs and we are anxiously waiting for another
baby to be born this year. Cha’s physicians and laboratory
personnel constantly research cryopreservation of eggs and embryos
for improving success rates and efficiency.
SART (Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology) &
CAP (College of American Pathologists)
Since 2002, the Cha Fertility Center has been an active member of
SART reporting our statistical data on an annual basis. In order
to maintain membership in SART all IVF Centers must follow certain
protocols when reporting their data. We are also members of CAP
(the College of American Pathologists) and our laboratory
is inspected at least every two years by the CAP team in order to
maintain our accreditation.
