Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)

The two most common causes of male infertility are low sperm count and poor sperm quality. In such cases, a procedure called intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) can be performed. A single healthy sperm cell is selected from the semen specimen and injected directly into the egg under a microscope. If the egg is successfully fertilized, it is cultured into an embryo, as in in-vitro fertilization, and implanted in the woman's uterus.
